Hakipu'u Hike and Cows
Hi! Our names are Kendall and Renon. We are going to tell you about our Hakipu'u hike. It was fun hiking for both of us. The guiders said that there were some cows last time! We didn't see any cows, though. They also warned us about the cow poop... and they were right!!! DISGUSTING!!! On the way to the look-out point at the end of the hike, there were two streams that we had to cross. On the way back, Kumu Ian showed us some hawaiian plants and told us some legends. The way back was a shortcut. It was really steep and dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But also fun! We also had to cross a muddy field. Luckily a little while after that, we crossed a stream and washed our feet off in the cool water (air conditioning for our feet). The sun was hot!
We learned a lot about how Punahou helps to maintain a part of Kualoa Ranch. We also learned how the old Hawaiians survived. We got to see an old taro patch that Kumu Ian pointed out for us. Kumu Ian also showed us the place where the water came from under the tree. Kendall's favorite part was crossing the stream and getting her feet wet. Renon's favorite part was seeing where the water came down! She liked the sound.
See ya!!! :) ;)
