HAKIPU'U

Hakipu'u

When we went on a hike on Friday we went to the Hakipu'u.
There we saw many native plants and natural habitats, but we didn't see cows.
Kumu Ian told us about the rocks and the streams.
Some people even put their feet in the stream.
Once we got to the top Kumu Ian told us the legend of Hakipu'u and the Mo'o.
Hi'iaka and a giant Mo'o (lizard) got into a big fight, but finally Hi'iaka chopped off the Mo'o's tail and threw it into the ocean which is now the small island with the name Mokoli'i or Chinaman's Hat.
Kumu Ian also chanted in Hawaiian before we left.
In the end, instead of walking down the long way again we walked down a steep hill.
