On Monday, June 30, 2014 we went to the Kanewai Lo'i. Then, we walked to the stream to clean the auwai. We also walked along the waterfall and picked up leaves. After that we walked down the path and went to pick up leaves off of the ground. Then we put in a wheel barrel and threw it in the lo'i. Next we spread out all of the leaves in the lo'i and pushed them down into the lo'i to make extra nutrients for the kalo. We went into two other lo'i patches to pull weeds and some people fixed mounds. At one lo'i patch there were many different kinds of kalo. Some had cupped leaves, some had baby kalos on the side, some were different colors, and some were different sizes although they were planted the same time. The first lo'i we went to had way more types of lo'i and it was way bigger. In the first lo'i we were able to loosen up the mud to make it easier to plant the kalo. Since some people had to wash off the mud in a spring. There was special water to wash off your face. We had lots of fun at both lo'is.
